Hikmat Hajiyev is an Azerbaijani diplomat and senior state official serving as Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration. He graduated from Baku State University and completed advanced studies at the NATO Defense College, the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, and Université libre de Bruxelles. Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000, he has represented Azerbaijan in NATO structures and diplomatic missions in Kuwait and Egypt, while also serving as the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry from 2014 to 2018. He is widely recognized for his role in regional diplomacy, strategic communications, peace negotiations, and Azerbaijan’s foreign policy initiatives across the South Caucasus and Eurasia.
